Record a revision
Recording saves what changed in your chapters as a pass in your history. Each changed chapter then becomes the new point Colophon compares against.
Record a pass
- Choose Manuscript ▸ Record Revision… (⌘S), or click Record revision… on the Manuscript or History screen.
- Check the list of chapters that changed.
- If you like, describe the pass under What was this pass? — for example, "second pass on Act II — cut the hospital scene". Colophon already records what changed; the note is for what the pass was.
- Click Record.
The pass appears at the top of History. Any chapter files that weren't tracked yet start being tracked at the same time.
If no chapter has changed, Colophon tells you there's Nothing to record.
Before you record
- Save your chapters in your writing app first. Colophon reads what's on disk.
- Recorded passes are permanent and can't be edited or deleted. If a check shows something you don't expect — for example, after attaching a different folder — find out why before you record.
