Look back through your history
History shows every pass you've recorded, newest first, and exactly which words changed in each.
Browse your passes
Click History in the sidebar, or choose Go ▸ History (⌃⌘H).
Each pass shows your note, how long ago you recorded it, how many chapters, scenes and paragraphs it touched, and a row for each chapter. A pass where only formatting changed — line breaks, spacing, quote marks — is marked formatting only.
See what changed
Click a chapter under a pass. The scenes that changed are listed on the left, and each changed paragraph is shown with a label:
- added — a paragraph that wasn't there before
- removed — a paragraph that was taken out
- changed — a paragraph that was edited. Removed words are struck through and added words are underlined.
- formatting — only the formatting changed. Click Show the exact change to see which characters differ.
Only what changed is kept, so the paragraphs around a change aren't shown. Click Read it now to open that scene as it stands today, or Read chapter to open the whole chapter.
Use ‹ Older and Newer › to step through the passes on that chapter.
See the history of one chapter or scene
- A chapter — click its row on the Manuscript screen, or click History while reading it.
- A scene — click What changed here on the scene's page or beside the scene while reading.
Find something you cut
Search looks through your recorded passes too, so you can find a sentence you removed months ago. See Search your book.
